for showing an interest in our properties and our company. Owned
by Chuck Zapiec and Mary Roberts, our business philosophy is to
market to ourselves; by this we mean that we renovate and add
the amenities and comforts that we enjoy and hopefully, others
will too! We do that by taking great pride in renovating and maintaining
our uniquely located vacation rentals.
Upon
our first visit 8 years ago, we immediately fell in love with
the Island. It was like a big sandbox to us. Miles of a gorgeous
hard white sandy beach, tennis, bike riding, beach walks with
our dog, golf, jogging, outdoor cafes, nightly entertainment,
this place had it all. We thought that it retained the beautiful
scenery of Maine mixed with the low-key ambiance of Key West;
ocean, beach sports activities, fine dining and island living
at its best. We came back one month later and bought our first
property.

We have traveled
the globe, often with our children, over the last 25 years and
have noted what we thought were the best ideas. For example, we
observed how, in general, individual vacation rental property
owners spent so little time, money and effort in renovating and
maintaining their vacation properties.
In speaking with the rental agents, they told us that the houses
we were renting were second home properties for the owners and
that these homes became second priorities for them. Mary and I
knew how much nicer each home could be with just a little more
effort. We thought, wouldn't it make sense to keep your vacation
home up to the same standards and let the rental and real estate
market determine the increased value by doing so?
Moreover, we were told that the measuring stick employed in remodeling
and furnishing a short-term vacation rental property was to make
it "just good enough". They told us that short-term
renters showed little interest in maintaining the condition of
the properties rented. Again, our experience was different in
that we thought that we always left the property we rented cleaner
than when we first got there.
We have tried to position ourselves in the marketplace as a quality
rental at affordable prices. By no means are we the cheapest,
but we do think we are one of the best values.

Everything
that a full time residence could want is included. Utensils, linens,
furnishings, appliances and beddings, beach chairs are all new
and first-rate quality. One of our other original ideas was to
provide 4 adult bikes for each rental. These are beach cruisers
with fat tires and fat seats, ideal for handling the sand on the
road and at the beach. All of our bikes come from a reputable
bike rental company who services them for us. We feel, and we
hope that you agree, that cleanliness is our most prized amenity.
Nothing makes a vacation less enjoyable than used and soiled furnishings,
bedding and malfunctioning appliances.

We
are pet friendly. We had often traveled with our dog; she is our
child in a furry coat. We knew how difficult it was to find a luxury
property that would accept pets. It seemed like the two desires
couldn't co-exist. After doing some research, we learned that vacationers
who travel with their pets come from a higher socio-economic level
than travelers in general. Our experience has shown that to be true.
Furthermore, our guests usually go out of their way to leave our
properties as good of condition as when they arrived - just like
we did over our years of renting vacation properties.
Not everyone travels with a pet. We take every precaution to keep
our properties meticulously clean for anyone to stay at, even if
they have allergies to pets. Special filters, cleaners and air treatments
are used to clean and maintain an agreeable environment.
